"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."

You must be a member of The Woodlands United Methodist Church at least 60 days prior to your reserving the Church to receive “member status”.

Please contact the Events Coordinator for an updated fee schedule and deposit requirements. Your fee includes the following: pastor honorarium, wedding coordinator fee, church organist fee, Foundations for Marriage Pre-marital Seminar, Sound Technician fee, maintenance, security, custodial and room usage. Your balance is due one month prior to your wedding date (no exceptions). Initial deposit will not be refunded if the wedding is cancelled within three months of the wedding date.
Ceremony Officiating
Ministers of The Woodlands United Methodist Church will officiate all weddings.
Wedding Coordinator
The Woodlands United Methodist Church wants to make your wedding worry and hassle free. With that in mind, you will be assigned a wedding coordinator to assist you with your needs at your rehearsal and wedding. Your wedding coordinator will meet with you twice prior to your wedding rehearsal. Any additional time required must be arranged between you and your wedding coordinator. Your wedding coordinator will conduct your one hour rehearsal. Outside wedding coordinators/planners are welcome; however, the coordinator assigned by The Woodlands United Methodist Church will coordinate the rehearsal and wedding. It is your responsibility to contact the coordinator once one is assigned to you to set up the initial meeting.
Music
Your service of marriage is a service of worship. The wedding therefore should reflect the God-centered focus that characterizes all worship services. The Woodlands United Methodist Church organist will be glad to suggest appropriate selections. If someone other than the church organist is providing instrumental or vocal music for your service, please be sure to discuss possible selections with the pastor officiating your marriage. Recorded music and accompaniment tapes are not permitted. It is your responsibility to call the Music Ministry Assistant to make an appointment with the Church Organist.
Photography
Pictures may be taken prior to and after the ceremony. We ask that the photographers and videographers not be on the altar area during the ceremony.
Pre-Marital Counseling
The Woodlands United Methodist Church recommends you attend “Foundations for Marriage.” All couples are required to participate in one of the following pre-marital preparation class/counseling sessions:
- The Woodlands United Methodist Church, “Foundations for Marriage” seminar and workshop. The fee for this seminar is included with your wedding package. If you choose not to attend this seminar, the fee is non-refundable.
- A marriage preparation series of classes at another church.
- Three couple sessions of pre-marriage work with the counselor of your choice.
In addition, all couples are requested to meet with the minister officiating their wedding at lease one month prior to their wedding date to get acquainted and discuss specific plans for your ceremony. It is your responsibility to schedule this appointment.
Decorations
Nothing is to be moved or rearranged on or near the alter area. If using pew decorations, please use caution on the wood, so not to scratch. All candles used must be supplied by the wedding party and be drip less with plastic sheeting placed under them for additional protection. We ask that all flowers, candles and decorations be removed immediately following your pictures.
Building Access
In addition to the use of the Chapel or Sanctuary for your wedding, you will also have access to the Lenox Parlor– Brides Room, Grooms Room and Classroom D206. If your wedding is in the Sanctuary you will not be using the Grooms Room, but will instead have use of the Kalas Robing Chamber. These additional rooms can be used for pre-wedding preparations and dressing.
The building and assigned rooms will be open for your use two hours before and one hour after your wedding. Your florist may begin decorating the two hours prior to your wedding. Due to additional reservations made in rooms, we ask that you promptly remove all decorations and belongings immediately following your ceremony.
If you require additional time for preparation, you may reserve these rooms for $50.00 per hour.
