TWUMC Camera Club

Our purpose is to bring together people interested in exploring the wonder of God’s creation through the lens of a camera.  Members of all ages encourage one another and share their efforts to record nature, travels, people and memories.  Anyone is welcome to join this club.  We are here to teach one another through enjoyable activities and meetings, to make new friendships through a common interest, to support The Woodlands United Methodist Church through our photography, and to glorify God through it all.

Meetings: We meet the first Monday of each month, excluding holidays, at 7:00 pm in Aldersgate Hall (located at the southeast end of TWUMC - map). The meeting starts promptly at 7:15.

Our meetings last for one and a half hours.  We share camera tips, learn new techniques, exchange ideas, and enjoy gaining insight from others' experiences.  Every month brings a new program. For more information, e-mail us at cameraclub@twumc.org.

Club Dues: There are opportunities and programs that require funds from time to time. Membership dues of $10 per family per year are a voluntary (non-tax-deductable) gift toward the operations of the Camera Club, and enable us to expand our programs. Membership is not required to attend monthly meetings nor to have a name tag. All workshops and field trips require membership to attend (or an extra $10, which is applied to membership for everyone in your family).

Share and Learn

Take some photos and share them with other members at the next meeting. We all want to know each other better and learn from all our experiences. Each month you can share up to four (4) photos. E-mail your photos to cameraclub@twumc.org by the end of the month! We cannot guarantee that photos received less than four (4) days before the monthly meeting will be included.

If you need help with this, call Jean and Mike Drummond (281.367.7641) or Pete Poulsen (281.292.1568). Remember - we have a mailbox in the resource room located beside the church receptionist if you need to drop off a CD or photo.

Always be sure you receive a response from one of us after you e-mail photos to be sure we received them.

All photos on this page are from the December meeting Share and Learn. Thanks to all of you who participated.

TWUMC Stock Photos

The Camera Club has become one of the official photography sources for the Communications Group of The Woodlands United Methodist Church. This means we can have countless opportunities not only to offer photos to the church for upcoming projects, but we can have a marvelous time making new friends while we continue to develop our photography skills! Please click on this link for further information: stock_photos.pdf

In order to photograph children in church programs the Conference requires a small background check. Copies of the form for this check are available in the white envelope under our yellow Camera Club mailbox in the church volunteer workroom (to the left of the receptionist's desk) or by e-mailing cameraclub@twumc.org. This background check is coordinated through the Children's Ministry Department. It is a one-time safeguard for everyone (the children, the volunteers, the Camera Club, and you).

Camera Club "Stock Photographer" name badges are available in the white envelope under our yellow Camera Club mailbox in the church volunteer workroom (to the left of the receptionist's desk). You can put your photos on a CD marked "Stock" and leave them with the church receptionist in an envelope to the attention of Jaime DiNoia. If you only have a few photos you can e-mail them directly to jdinoia@twumc.org. Be sure to include the words "Stock Photos" in the subject of the e-mail.
