Missions

Missions is an exciting area of ministry at our church. We know that God not only wants to minister to us, He also wants to minister through us. Here at The Woodlands United Methodist Church, we are answering God’s call by reaching out both locally and internationally. Our primary goal is to bring the name of Jesus Christ to those who do not know Him and to demonstrate His love, compassion and saving grace.

2008 Mission Trip Opportunities

This year we are offering a wide variety of opportunities for you to serve in a foreign or local mission setting.  Those who have gone on a mission trip from our church will tell you that it is an incredible, life changing experience. You will have the opportunity to serve God as you never have before. And God will open your heart as He brings scriptural passages alive through your experiences with the people you have come to serve.

Faith Promises

Our Missions ministry is financed through Faith Promises. That means that it is not a part of the church budget, rather it is supported through gifts from individuals who step out in faith and give, knowing that they will be sharing the love that God has already given to them. In October of each year, we have our Missions Conference which includes a weekend of fellowship dinners and special worship services. It is at this time that members are able to make a Faith Promise for the coming year.

Missionaries

View an exhaustive list of missionary families and ministries that we help to support through our annual Faith Promise giving.  To become personally involved in the work of these ministries, we invite you to pray specifically for your missionaries, communicate with them through notes and letter of encouragement, and give a Faith Promise to financially support the work they do.

Society of St. Stephen

Society of St. Stephen is an outreach ministry to aid people during a financial crisis so that they can continue to be independent and productive people in the community. This ministry includes the Back to School Project, the Annual Clothing Drive, the blood drive, and Christmas for the Needy.

Perspectives

Perspectives is an in-depth, 15-week, integrative course designed to reveal God's plan from the beginning of time to bring glory to Himself through His people.  The course sheds light not only God's eternal plan but also shows us the role that we play in it.  A new course begins January 21 and will be held at WoodsEdge Community Church (3333 Panther Creek Drive).
